Glory be to God! Another milestone was achieved on Sunday, July 28, 2019 as the Zonal Head, Pastor Ola Olukoyede, inaugurated RCCG City of life – a new parish under RCCG City of Refuge. The new church is situated at No 1, M. A. Oke Street, Igando, Lagos.
Upon opening the new church with prayer, Pastor Ola indicated in his short speech that whatever one is doing in life, God must be made the foundation; further stressing the fact that God was being made the Foundation of the Church.
He encouraged the new parish’s leader, Pastor Johnson Alisi, and his team to start planning programs that will move the church forward.
There were over 100 people present to witness the joyous occasion at the beautiful set-up of the church.
Alimosho was left agog as RCCG City of Refuge under the auspices of Divine Covenant Cathedral, Lagos Province 72, held its biannual 12 hours of praise service in the church’s magnificent auditorium. The program saw people from all walks of life coming in to express their praises and thanks to God.
This edition featured guest artistes such as Mike Abdul, Praise Machine, Bidemi Olaoba, Kay Wonder and the RCCG National Praise Team, who all thrilled the audience with awesome praise and worship ministrations. Additional performances by the elders, drama, teenagers and women spiced up the day. And at the finale of the program, Victor Praise and the Choir, as usual, led an explosive praise session.
The 7am to 7pm program, organized by Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Ola Olukoyede, has become a house hold name over the years as a result of hard work, diligence, grace and the favour of God. While speaking at the tail end of the service, the elated man of God was full of praise unto God, members of the organising committee and everyone who made sure the program was a success.
The program may have come and gone but the euphoria remains.
The Redeem Christian Church of God embarked on its Easter outreach program tagged LET’S GO A-FISHING. The two-day event coincided with the crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In line with her passion for soul winning, RCCG City of Refuge partook in the outreach themed “THERE IS HOPE” (1st Corinthians 15:12-22). The program, which is in tandem with the church’s mission and vision, kicked off on Good Friday, April 19th along Igando-Isheri Road, Lagos with evangelism within which were several street dramas that raised awareness about the event.
At 5:30 pm, the program officially commenced at Diamond Estate’s Recreational Park, Igando-Isheri. The Zonal Pastor, City of Refuge, Pastor Ola Olukoyede elucidated the significance of Easter, admonishing those present to see it as a period of Hope and not sadness because Jesus’ death paid the price of sin for humanity and marked the end of satanic torment. He also reminded everyone to have Hope and Faith in God because on the third day Christ conquered the grave and resurrected.
Instead of crying why not celebrate Him, he added.
Later that night, the outreach’s main attraction – a movie titled “The Missing Link” – was aired.
The program continued on Saturday, April 20th with more evangelism, spontaneous street dramas and public awareness, as well as the completion of the movie aired the day before. During the course of the two-day outreach, 39 souls were saved for Christ, the youth conducted a street cleaning exercise, we hosted a representative of our General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye and announced the birth of a new church in the environment.
Glory to God.

Ten souls were won that Saturday.
This year’s evangelism weekend was tagged: SURE GLORY: THROUGH EVANGELISM
Why people do not engage in Evangelism
- You cannot give what you do not have
- Pride and societal status
- Selfishness and ignorance
- Fear of the unknown
Benefits of Evangelism
- You depopulate kingdom of hell
- You add value to yourself
- You open up channels of blessings
- God will always attend to your prayers.
The program ended on Sunday with thanksgiving and dancing, with 1467 people in attendance.
There was increased celebration in RCCG City of Refuge on Sunday, December 16th 2018 during the 12 hours of non-stop praise Service themed Praise Ye The Lord. The program has produced 13 editions within its short time of existence, with its attendance continuously being on an upward trend.
This edition was flagged off with the opening prayer by Deaconess Esther Adeyeri; as the City of Refuge Choir were already in waiting to sing like Angels. To God be the Glory, Nigerian leading artists inclusive of Ebenezer Obey, Tim Godfrey, Yetunde Are, Kay Wonder and RCCG Praise Team all ministered during the service. They did not only assert themselves, but won many souls for the Lord. The RCCG Regional Evangelist, Pastor Sam Macdallys was also present as he blessed the people of God, while the Children and Teenagers’ presentations won the hearts of the many.
Another notable highlight of the marathon service was the recognition and presentation of awards to Pastor and Pastor Mrs. Ola Olukoyede for their leadership over the church. And at the end of the service, a little over 12 hours, Pastor Ola rounded up with prayers for the congregation.
The Church and the Men came together in celebration on the third weekend of November in what could be termed as a wonderful coincidence. The church had begun her annual family weekend (themed – SUSTAINING A CHRISTIAN FAMILY IN A TIME LIKE THIS) a little earlier on Thursday, November 15th when the children and teenagers conducted the Faith Clinic Service. Meanwhile, the City of Refuge Men commenced their annual convention (themed – THE MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR) on Saturday, November 17th with an unprecedented cultural dinner.
The dinner was an opportunity for couples in the church to unwind as they were well delighted with gentle music and fun games. In this relaxed atmosphere, Pastor Segun Adeyanju, a consultant with a mission to build and shape the lives of individuals and organizations, was presented alongside his wife as the guest speakers of the event.
The following Sunday was a great day. The church was well decorated as she hosted the grand finale of two major events in a combined thanksgiving service. The men took up the responsibility of the choir for the day, while the children gave outstanding offhand bible recitations. The teenagers presented an awesome dance choreography and the youth drama gave a brilliant ministration. While the Elders gave a special rendition and cash gift to the church.
The Guest minister for the day was Pastor Timothy Olaniyan, the current Provincial Pastor of RCCG Dominion Cathedral, Lagos Province 12. Interestingly, this was not Pastor Olaniyan’s first visit to City of Refuge (he had previously visited two years ago). Our father-in-the-Lord, Pastor Ola Olukoyede introduced to the congregation and received Pastor Olaniyan on the altar.
Pastor Olaniyan opened by lauding Pastor Ola and the church for the progress made. Afterwards, he led a powerful worship session before preaching his message titled MEN OF VALOR. He took the bible text from Judges 6:12 and went on to describe who a man of valor was. He concluded his sermon by giving biblical examples of men and women of valor such as Deborah, Esther, David, Samuel and Jesus.
Afterwards, the thanksgiving service went into overdrive with the congregation fully immersed in the joyful atmosphere. It was a memorable and absolutely wonderful service.
