Known not only for her spiritual activities, the Redeemed Christian Church of God: City of Refuge’s welfare unit under the pastorage of Pastor Ola Olukoyede has achieved another milestone. The church has in the past provided succour to her host community through her CSR in road repairs, provision of pipe-borne water and rendering helping hands to members in need.
This time to cushion and ameliorate the effect of the lockdown caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, City of Refuge under the auspices of RCCG Lagos Province 72 embarked on the distribution of foodstuffs in form of palliatives to help her members and host community in these trying times.
The distribution was carried out in two phases, first was across all house fellowship centres where over 70 households benefitted followed by the second phase which had over 180 packages doled out to members.
The second phase had over 180 packages, which included garri, rice, sachet tomato paste, groundnut oil, beans, spaghetti, detergents, palm oil, bathing soap, sanitizers and seasoning delivered to members and the host community.
Over 150 members, this included the elders, youth, households and widows benefitted from the church’s benevolence, while the rest went to the immediate community.
The church believes that these palliative measures will go a long way to soothe the effect of the lockdown, as she continues to pray for an end to the global pandemic and return to the house of God.
