Glory be to God! Another milestone was achieved on Sunday, July 28, 2019 as the Zonal Head, Pastor Ola Olukoyede, inaugurated RCCG City of life – a new parish under RCCG City of Refuge. The new church is situated at No 1, M. A. Oke Street, Igando, Lagos.

Upon opening the new church with prayer, Pastor Ola indicated in his short speech that whatever one is doing in life, God must be made the foundation; further stressing the fact that God was being made the Foundation of the Church.

He encouraged the new parish’s leader, Pastor Johnson Alisi, and his team to start planning programs that will move the church forward.

There were over 100 people present to witness the joyous occasion at the beautiful set-up of the church.

The greatest oppression of the devil is the captivity of the mind. Satan will only go to the extend you have given him to operate in your life. One of the terrible things evil covenant does is that it brings limitations to one’s destiny. And one of the hallmarks of limitation is failure at the edge of success. When an evil covenant is operating in your life, you will not be yourself.

In the past editions of this series, we had learned about how evil covenants were created, their symptoms and the rules for breaking them. This month’s focus was on a third rule for breaking hidden evil covenants – KNOW YOUR ENEMY. You must understand the strategies and the devices of the enemy before you engage in battle (2 Corinthians 2:11). You can’t go into a strong man house to take his possession except you first bind him (Mark 3:27). Before you can fight a strong enemy, you must first take authority over them and you cannot take authority except you know the Owner of all authority (an altar call was raised and 36 people gave their lives to Christ). 81 people were first time attendees.

Prayer points

  1. Father! I decree and declare, every hidden covenant and power that has tied me to where I do not belong, hear the Word of the Lord, your time is up, loose me and let me go!
  2. Father, every hidden evil covenant made on my behalf and destiny, wherever you are, catch fire!

Per her tradition in recent times, the 2019 City of Refuge Good Women Convention began with a visit to Little Saints Orphanage, Akowonjo. Led by Pastor Olaitan Olukoyede, the women came bearing bountiful gifts (boxes of clothing and food items). The officials of the home, in their vote of thanks, were very grateful for the women’s consistent visit yearly.

The 2nd day was packed with events ranging from Pastor Olaitan’s Q&A session to Yoruba and Igbo cultural presentations to medical checks, and training sessions on Makeup and cooking Ofe Nsala (White Soup). There were also assortments of refreshments available.

The convention concluded with a thanksgiving service where Pastor Olaitan Olukoyede’s sermon emphasized the need for every marriage to have its God-given mission and vision. Afterwards, Pastor Ola Olukoyede specially prayed for the women. It was indeed an unforgettable event.

PRAISE YE THE LORD (July 7th, 2019)

Alimosho was left agog as RCCG City of Refuge under the auspices of Divine Covenant Cathedral, Lagos Province 72, held its biannual 12 hours of praise service in the church’s magnificent auditorium. The program saw people from all walks of life coming in to express their praises and thanks to God.

This edition featured guest artistes such as Mike Abdul, Praise Machine, Bidemi Olaoba, Kay Wonder and the RCCG National Praise Team, who all thrilled the audience with awesome praise and worship ministrations. Additional performances by the elders, drama, teenagers and women spiced up the day. And at the finale of the program, Victor Praise and the Choir, as usual, led an explosive praise session.

The 7am to 7pm program, organized by Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Ola Olukoyede, has become a house hold name over the years as a result of hard work, diligence, grace and the favour of God. While speaking at the tail end of the service, the elated man of God was full of praise unto God, members of the organising committee and everyone who made sure the program was a success.

The program may have come and gone but the euphoria remains.

Precious Igbedion.

I want to thank God for my life and family. The Lord averted an evil occurrence from happening; I got home after sanitation and I was told a stray bullet pierced through the roof into the dining room. I give God all the glory because my children were supposed to be eating at that particular time. God did not allow anyone pay me a condolence visit.
Sis. S. O.

During the December 2018 edition of Praise Ye The Lord, I was pregnant and was told to come for inducement because I was past my due date; so, I danced that day and was delivered of my baby the next day. I am here to fulfill my promise to the Lord. I give Him all the glory.

2 weeks ago, on my way to church, my family and I were all on a bike, and at a particular junction a vehicle splashed water on us and I said “Jesus!” At the end of the service, my father and mother-in-the-Lord, Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Ola Olukoyede, blessed my family with a car! If not for God. God bless Mummy and Daddy Olukoyede in Jesus name.

I want to thank God for life, good health for my family and I, and favour at work where He made me the head. 3 days ago, God protected me, I was waiting for someone at the bus stop when I was attacked by two armed robbers with cutlasses. I thank God because they did not harm me. I give God all the glory for protection and being able to celebrate another birthday.
Dcn. O. B.

I thank God for being able to celebrate my birthday, for making me a grandfather again, and for protecting my family and I. Secondly, I want to thank God for my work; a project I was working on was cancelled and I was bothered, so I told pastor and we prayed about it. To the glory of God, it was restored.

I want to appreciate God for what He did this week. At the institution where I work, we were recruited by a consulting firm for the State Government and I head a crucial department. However, in another department within our organisation, the head of department resigned and the institution tried very hard to get another group head but it failed. Finally, last year, we were able to recruit someone for the role, but when the person saw the situation within the department, he quickly resigned and left. On the 40th day of fast, my Executive Director told me that I was going to head the department. During our last review, our performance as a department had improved significantly and we are now successful. Praise the Lord!

Generally, relationships have been recognised to be how two people behave when they are (romantically) involved with each other with the resulting aim of marital bliss. This is the bedrock of every marriage when considering how God had designed the (marriage) institution. To further establish this; there are 10 qualities which young people are advised to have (and develop) in order to have a successful marriage:

  1. Trust
  2. Honesty
  3. Respect
  4. Communication
  5. Loyalty
  6. Happiness
  7. Compromise
  8. Safety
  9. Independence
  10. Partnership

Upon briefly establishing the critical role relationships play in successful marriages, there is also a need to understand the expectations of the parties involved.

What Is Expected of a Single Man?

He must have a sense of responsibility especially in taking good care of his spouse (1 Peter 3:7). A man must also be intentionally caring (Colossians 3:19). He must work; before a man says ‘I do’, he must be a provider (Genesis 2:15; 2 Thessalonians 3:10). And he should consistently add value to himself by continuously learning to become better at everything he does.

What Is Expected of a Single Woman?

First of all, if you are not ready to play the role of a wife, do not bother getting married (Ephesians 5:22 – 23, 1 Peter 3:1 – 2). Be dedicated to God and establish a relationship with Him. A woman should be independent and resourceful (Proverbs 31:12 – 27). She should learn to be tolerant of the things to come ahead in marriage (Proverbs 14:1).

Remember, no one (man or woman) is the perfect relationship partner, everyone has flaws. To guarantee relationship success is to be ever-learning. Your mindset determines your success.

These are Questions Asked by Several Women and My Responses to Them. I Hope You Will Learn from Their Experiences.

My husband libido is too high. He wants sex in the morning, afternoon and evening, everyday. More so, he is not romantic at all. He does not care about my health, even when I am sick he still wants sex. He does not listen to my explanations.

1 Peter 3:7a, “Likewise, ye husband, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel and as been heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.” Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” Ephesians 5:28, 29 & 33, “So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: …Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverences her husband.”

The bible passages above tell us that husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the church. Loving your wife means you love yourself, because after the wedding your wife became a part of you. As no man ever hates himself, husbands also need to love their wives. There must be communication between husband and wife because it will lead to better understanding.

As for the high libido, after marriage there are certain things we adapt to and others we change about ourselves. In this case, discuss your feelings with your husband, I am sure he will reason with you. A woman whom you are not romantic with will always complain. Romance makes a woman enjoy sex.

Ma, please can I separate from my spouse without remarrying? Will I make heaven?

I Corinthians 7: 6-11, “But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.” Matthew 6: 14-15, “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

My sister, you demanding separation from your husband means he has hurt you. However, the bible says we should forgive one another, and if you cannot forgive your husband, how do you want God to forgive you? Forgiveness is a commandment and moving out is not the solution except when violence is involved. I will admonish you not to leave because there is no one whom God cannot change. Don’t zero your mind to divorce or separation if violence is not involved.

Yes, you will make heaven but how do you reconcile with your spouse if you still live apart even after forgiving each other? You need to forgive and forget.

During last the May BDS, Pastor mentioned that some people would receive financial breakthrough unexpectedly and I held on to the prophecy with faith. On the same day, as I left church and went to the ATM to collect the last ₦500 in my account, I saw that my account balance had increased to ₦65,000. 2 weeks later, I found out that it was my fiancé in the USA who had made the transfer for my feeding. He made another transfer of ₦250,000 for me to get a new apartment; and now he’s thinking of coming to Nigeria to pay my bride prize before I put to birth. Glory to God.

I bless the name of the Lord. During the special women’s program, God healed me through Pastor Becky Enenche. Praise God.

Mrs T.A.D.

I want to thank God for what He did during the fast. God did something for me which has only happened once in my career of over 15 years. It happened on the 40th day of the fast when I was not expecting it. I give God all the glory.

Mr S.

3 months ago, Pastor prophesied that “if you are here and you are due to go to Asaba, do not go.” I was due for an official assignment at Asaba, but when the list came out instead of Asaba, I was posted to Abuja. Secondly after the BDS, on my way home, I was feeling sleepy and I slept off while driving and when I woke up, I had nearly pinned down an okada rider to another vehicle but God took charge. Glory to God.

On the 24th of May, I boarded a bus from National, but, unfortunately, it was full of eight thugs who collected my cash, id-card, wristwatch and bag they asked me series of questions about my bank account. I thank God for safety, protection and they returned back my belongings. I thank God for saving me.

Mr I. P.

Recently, I was at the bank and after my transaction, I forgot my ATM card at the machine; and a man ran after me, he gave me my card and the money that was dispensed. I give glory to God because the man was not a thief. As we were taught in Sunday School (about tithing), I thank God that I pay my tithe and I encourage everyone else to do so.

Mrs S. B.

I thank God for the grace to visit and reconcile with my mum, the burden has been lifted. I also thank God for favour to and fro the visit. Secondly, I am thankful to God for my family and the church for encouraging us. I give Him all the glory.

Mrs V. A.

I give thanks to God. On the 19th of May, I lost my husband. I thank God that he did not give us problems. He cautioned us not to keep him in the mortuary. God provided all that was needed for the burial and I am also thankful for journey mercies for all those who came, near and far. The devil wanted to raise his head but God knocked him down. Glory to God.

Mrs J.

I testify for the gift of life, series of answered prayers and good health from January till date. Glory to God.

Deacon A. A.

I thank God for safe delivery. This one was not delayed like previous deliveries. I thank God for strength and when the baby started stooling after birth, I used the miracle handkerchief Pastor prayed on and the stooling stopped. I pray for those expecting a miracle like this that God would locate you before the end of this year.

Sis. P.

10 years ago, while delivering my baby there were complications and surgery was advised, while my husband was away at Kwara State. As the hospital staff were looking for a vein, the doctor checked again and the baby’s head came out. I thank God for life and my son is now 10 years old. Glory to God.

Sis P.

Since January 1st, I had been having wrong messages about death. Whenever I board a bus, the thought would come again. On Thursday, during faith clinic, Pastor asked us to declare and I started declaring and later that night, I had a dream where a man confronted me and said “you think you can pray?” I give glory to God that death has been averted.

Bro. A. W.

I wrote an exam and my prayer point was to pass it in one sitting. God did it! Secondly, I am thankful because I am alive to celebrate another birthday. Glory to God.

Mr V. E.

I thank God for safety at work. I joined my company in 2017 and many people have died during the project but I thank God for keeping me. Although, it is said that they (the company) wants to withdraw about 300 workers, whether my name is there or not, I am grateful to be alive.

Mr J. J.

In March, I received a phone call about a woman whom I guaranteed. All efforts to reach her proved abortive and as a result, my boss informed me they would be shutting down our office. I spoke to everyone but no one was willing to help. I made up my mind and got a lawyer, and he stood firm and they requested that she get another guarantor and I was exonerated from the case without paying a dime. I thank God for helping me.

SEASON OF REST Genesis 2:2-3

Dear reader, I welcome you into the month of July which the LORD in the passage, referred to as the month of REST as ordained by the ALMIGHTY GOD Himself. I pray for you this day that the ALMIGHTY GOD will grant you rest from all your troubles and hard labour in JESUS Name. Throughout this month, your soul will find rest in JESUS Name. The LORD will trouble anyone planning to trouble you in Jesus Name. Everywhere you go, opposition will bow before you and you will excel among your peers and colleagues in Jesus Name.

God can do all things because He is OMNIPOTENT; but we also need to understand that God is not a magician. There are laid down principles established in the bible through which we can make His omnipotence work for us.

  1. In Genesis 2, the bible says “on the seventh day God ended HIS work; this presupposes that God has always been working. Logically, the only people who deserve and should expect rest are the ones committed to hard work. The bible says in Proverbs6:6, “go to the ant, thou sluggard consider her ways and be wise.” If you desire rest then you must make use of every opportunity to work that comes your way. Rest is synonymous to success which is the end result of hard work.
  2. You must also make up your mind this month to be at the right place at the right time for the blessings of the Lord to locate you. The Angel of the Lord visited Zachariah with a blessing of a lifetime whilst he was in the temple doing his priestly work and carrying out his ministry responsibility (Luke 1:7-13). You must, therefore, make yourself available for your blessing. There is always a right place to be at the right time for God’s blessings to locate you. Do not forsake the assembly of God’s people (Acts 2:42). It is important to take church seriously; all the major services conducted in the church should be of interest to you, where you will be fed with the sincere milk of the Word so that you may grow thereby. You can never tell which of the services God would use as a point of contact to your breakthrough.
  3. Finally, ensure you offer unto the Lord sacrifices of righteousness for you to enjoy the abundance of the seas and the blessings of the land (Deuteronomy 33:19). You must be born again and live a life of holiness and righteousness for you to know and enter into God’s rest this month.

I pray that the joy of the Lord will strengthen you this month and you will not fail in Jesus Name.

  • Thank God and bless His Name for bringing you into the month of July. Bless His Name for the Gift of Life.
  • Ask for the mercies of the Lord to see you through this month in all you do.
  • Father, I decree that all my past labours shall attract harvest this month in Jesus Name.
  • Father, give me the grace to be at the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing this month in Jesus Name.
  • Lord, wherever I go this month, let Your favour follow me and let me have a major testimony every day of this month in Jesus Name.
