Contrary winds are unfortunate and disastrous situations that bring about stagnation and eventual abortion and destruction of destiny. They are strange and unusual occurrences which bring all manners of evil. They usually start small eventually resulting in disasters. They do not regard age nor gender as they can be blow into the womb or upon a grown adult.
Characteristics of Contrary Winds.

1. They blow after hard labour when there is an expectation of harvest.
2. They accommodate curses and spells causing them to thrive in a life.
3. They dash hope and turn joy into sorrow.

I. Weapons To Stop Contrary Winds
a. The name of Jesus and word of God.
b. Effectual prayer

II. Deliverance
a. Silence the voice of enemies (1 Samuel 2:9).
b. Sack their priests (Psalm 109: 6-13, 17).
c. Pull down their altars (Psalm 35:8).

However, these weapons cannot work for the unsaved (if you are not born again) because contrary winds never leave the unsaved alone, only a delivered believer is free of them. And whenever God does something good in your life, contrary winds are around the corner, so watch out!
This Breakthrough and Deliverance Service began with a prayer network vigil – where people prayed using guided prayer points from their homes on Friday, 27th July till 2am on Saturday, 28th July. Afterwards, the church gathered together later on Saturday morning to conclude the service.
Pastor Ola’s ministration began with several words of prophecy (more than 10 of them) which became a theme throughout the service, as he concluded by laying hands on everyone according to the direction of the Lord. 16 people surrendered their lives to Christ while there were 47 first timers.

In today’s world, balancing financial needs with a child’s emotional well-being is complex and may require tough choices. I have no right to tell you whether you should stay at home or leave for work. I can only encourage you to find something to do. This is a decision for you and your husband to make and as a choice it can make a woman to feel very guilty. Each woman needs to ask the Lord what is best for her and her family. And if you are a single mother, staying at home with the children is not a likely option, and my heart aches because you are likely the sole provider for the family.

However, in homes where the husband is able to provide for the family and the children are pre-schoolers, the wife should stay at home to nurture the children. While doing this, she can engage in a side business that would not hinder her child-nurturing responsibilities. As a result, the family will reap tremendous benefits in later years.

I have a hard time when I see mothers who don’t need to work, but do so for extra material comforts. As unpopular as this perspective may be, I feel compelled to say it – “mothers should put their children’s best interests before their own.” If that means a career has to be put on hold or the old car needs to be driven another four years, so be it. Children are not acquisitions. They are precious human beings who need parents guiding them every day. A Day-Care Centre used daily will never offer them the care, instructions, security and love that a parent can. Even a good house maid cannot be as good as you are to your children. If you are struggling with this, sit down and review exactly how much money you have left after deducting Day-Care, After-School, dry-cleaning and housemaid bills.

I have talked to a lot of women who realized that they were making only a small income after all these deductions. These mothers also noted that they would save money from fewer hospital visits if their pre-schoolers were at home more, spend less on takeout food and stress relieving activities.

What can we learn from the Proverbs Woman?
“She considers a field and buys it from her earnings, she plants a vineyard” (Proverbs 31:16).
This “Total Woman” is also an entrepreneur.

A “Working Woman” who wants to increase her family’s wealth and is always on the lookout for things to do. She first thinks through her purchases, then buys from her own earnings because her husband doesn’t give her money. She has learned how to save. But what type of “job” is this? She is working to help her family and this work is probably next to her house, so she really has a “house-based” job. She buys a vineyard because grape raisins are important products for a Hebrew family. During the months of September and October, the fresh ripe grapes are eaten along with bread as one of the principal foods while other grapes are dried in a corner of the vineyard, sprinkled with olive oil and stored for winter use. Raisins were widely used as well. The Hebrew people would take the juice of grapes, boil it and eat it with bread.

I welcome you all to a new month, this month of August is the month of A New Beginning in God’s scheme and agenda for your life. This month, I see your destiny and everything that has to do with you rising and shining in Jesus name. According to the passage, the LIGHT of your life has come to shine this month and no power of darkness shall overshadow you in Jesus name. I can also see the GLORY of the Almighty God rising upon you and all yours. When God gives a new beginning, the following will be made manifest:

1. A NEW THING – In Isaiah 43:19, the bible says God will cause a new thing to spring forth. In other words, it shall be obvious, made manifest and everyone will see and know it. A new thing means God will deliver a new miracle that will cause one’s life to experience a new beginning. There will be a complete U-turn and departure from one’s old wretched way of life, thus making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. In Numbers 16:30, a new thing could also connote God destroying every form of hindrance and obstacle to our progress. I decree that every mountain standing between us and our miracles this month shall give way in Jesus name.

2. NEW MERCIES – (Lamentation 3:22) God will avert any disaster or plan of the enemy to distort your dreams and desires. The mercies of the Lord will avail for you this season in Jesus name. While the Grace of God brings to us His Blessings and Glory which we do not deserve due to who we are or used to be, His Mercies take away all forms of disaster and evil that ordinarily should have come against us. When new mercies operate in our lives, we become threats to the kingdom of hell and this shall be our testimony this month in Jesus name.

3. NEW NAME – (Revelation 2:17) This means a change of identity and status to a more glorious one. I decree that every name God has not given you which circumstances and enemies have assigned to your life shall be blotted out today in Jesus name. I see God giving you a new name and giving your life meaning once again. This month is your month, be expectant, great things are coming your way. God bless you.
