(Genesis 1:28, 12:2)

Blessings are the manifestations of favour, mercy, benefits, gifts and prosperity pronounced on someone by God.

What happens when God blesses someone?

  1. Sorrow turns into joy (1 Samuel 1:1-7, 1 Samuel 2:1-2, Psalm 126:1-2): When God turns your sorrow into joy, He will give you a voice among your enemies and lift your shoulders higher above your enemies.
  2. You will be highly favoured (Psalm 102:13, Psalm 5:12, Psalm 41:11, Genesis 29:17-20, Genesis 39:6, 1 Samuel 16:11-13): Favour is the supernatural ability and grace of God to make a man receive (mostly) without asking. When you are favoured, God gives you victory.

Examples of highly favoured people in the Bible:

  1. David (1 Samuel 16:11-13).
  2. Joseph (Genesis 39:4).
  3. Hannah (1 Samuel 1:1-7).
  4. Jacob (Malachi 1:2).
  5. Rachel (Genesis 29:17-20).

For the blessings of the Lord to follow you and become fastened to your destiny, you must run away from sin and harken diligently to the commandments of God (Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 15). This is because sin gives birth to curses and curses are the opposite of blessings.
